HIPPOCOR® Lipid Extract Bioavailability Observation
To ascertain the potential impact of HIPPOCOR® sea buckthorn seed lipid extract on the blood lipid profile, specifically how the composition of fatty acids in the blood changes after HIPPOCOR® usage, síbiotech collaborated with the University of Latvia and the Institute of Food Safety, Animal Health, and Environment “BIOR” to conduct a bioavailability assessment of the HIPPOCOR® product in 2023.
This pilot observation involved five healthy participants. Blood samples were collected from each study participant before and after HIPPOCOR® usage at intervals of 1, 6, 24, and 31 hours, respectively. Throughout the study, participants abstained from consuming meat, dairy, fish, butter, oil, nuts, and other products containing fats.
The observation results revealed that both before and 6 to 24 hours after HIPPOCOR® usage, there was a 10% increase in the quantity of healthy unsaturated fatty acids in the blood, while saturated fatty acids decreased by 5%.
The findings of the study suggest that by employing the technologies used in obtaining the HIPPOCOR® product, it is possible to obtain bioactive substances, including healthy fatty acids in their natural form. Moreover, these substances can be absorbed by the body, contributing to the health of the cardiovascular system.
Considering the initial results of the pilot observation, further continuation of the study is planned.
